For almost a month already, I have been on this weird state of blogger’s block. I am always online everyday but I can’t write up even a 100-word post and I don’t know why. Before I talk about some things that may sound nonsense to others, I would first like everyone to know what blogger’s block is.

Blogger’s block is similar to what writers call writer’s block. It is a condition which a writer or blogger cannot produce new work and this case, new posts. It is commonly caused by lack of inspiration, creativity problems, circumstances and problems from one’s personal life like physical illness, family problems, financial problems, social problems, stress and depression.

For writer’s block, there are strategies/techniques on overcoming it. Some of them are applicable on the case of a blogger’s block. Here are some strategies/techniques on overcoming blogger’s block:

Brainstorming
Brainstorming is really the hardest when you have a blogger’s block because you will have nothing to brainstorm. It is useful when you have some ideas you want to blog about and all you have to do is to brainstorm other ideas that you can relate to your original idea to come up with a whole blog post. If you are lacking of ideas you can blog about, try doing the next technique which is free writing.

Free Writing
Free writing is writing whatever comes to your mind. There are no rules. If you are able to write something by writing anything whatever comes to your mind, it is good exercise on keeping a good flow of ideas. It also better to edit/modify previous writings however bad it is, than starting from scratch and with no idea of what to write about. Blog about what you finished by free writing that you think is interesting. It is also easier to blog this way because you already have lots of ideas written and you will just have to decide on what to blog.

Blog About The Buzz
If you have nothing to blog about, you can try blogging about what seems to be the buzz on the blogosphere. Do researches from other blogs to come up with something you can blog about. It is a very easy way but never copy or imitate what others will have to say. Come up with your own version and you can try improving negative points and what seems to be lacking from the post of others.

Get Out Of Your Shell
Escape from your usual daily routine. Try doing something out of what is ordinary to you. Try going to new places and try doing new things. Look for inspiration and new ideas from this new places and new things you can do. You can gain better creativity and may learn more new things about other stuff and yourself this way. Then you can share whatever these new experiences and ideas by blogging about it.

Soul Searching
This is a common techniques used by most writers and also bloggers. Take a break, meditate, relax, listen to music, get some fresh air, do anything that will relieve stress and pressure from you. Stop thinking for a while and reflect on the things you have done and could have done, things that you are doing and could be doing, and things you will do and have to do. This way, you can get your head out of the problems of what to write about and then you can start anew.

I myself have already been in this condition. I overcome it by reflecting on why can’t I blog about anything and then it came to me: “What if I blog about this problem I have of not being able to blog about anything and how to overcome it?” Here it is. I’m back to blogging again and I hope this helps other bloggers who are also in this condition of blogger’s block to overcome it and continue blogging.
