FOOD REVIEWS:

First dish served is from Kalapaw: A Taste of Laoag. It is called Poqui-Poqui or Ensaladang Talong. Talong in English means eggplant. So the dish generally has eggplant as the main ingredient. I don’t know how it is exactly cooked but it is like eggplant mixed with other vegetables like tomatoes and others. I don’t like vegetables that much but it isn’t that bad.

Next dishes are from Kusina ni Gracia: Sisig and Kaldereta, both of which are familiar to me. The Sisig is good but the Kaldereta is a lot better. Sisig is cooked by dicing grilled or pan-fried pork while Kaldereta is beef cooked with tomato sauce with a very good and spicy taste.

I guess we are kind of late that’s why we were not able to taste more of the food that are available for tasting. That’s all.

I don’t know much about all events but I know that the main events for the Panagbenga Festival will be the Grand Parades that will be held on February 27 and 28. Market Encounter is a trade fair along a street in Burnham Park. Legarda Rocks features street parties along Legarda Road. Abanao Nights features a series of concerts along Abanao Street. Session Road in Bloom is when Session Road is closed for a week-long bazaar.

Video Game Awards. To be honest to everyone, this is pretty new to me and never heard that such kind of awards exists until now: Video Game Awards 2009 which will be aired on January 16 @ 9p.m. I never watched any of the previous Video Game Awards so I don’t have any basis for comparisons which are better but now, I have already watched the preview of the Video Game Awards 2009 and let me share my first thoughts about it.

For me, the setting is just the same as any of the other awards night: there’s a stage, there are monitor screens, and lastly, there’s the crowd. Described as the biggest night in gaming by one surprising character in the opening, with special appearances of big names from different industries, first looks and world premieres of the latest and most awaited games, and the awarding of the best of the best in gaming, it really lives up to that description.

For a first time watcher of the Video Game Awards, I was impressed and at the same entertained: in a manner that there’s a comedic speech and two music performances of different genres. What I liked most is the game previews that pretty much gives every gamer a glimpse to the future of gaming. I seldom see and never played games with such excellent graphics as the games previewed. And what I think is wrong is that some games are nominated on inappropriate categories. I am no great game critic but just a gamer sharing my thoughts about this.

To sum it all up, I enjoyed it and will be looking forward to the next Video Game Awards. Well, that concludes my first thoughts on the Video Game Awards 2009 Preview. More power to the Video Game Awards and to all of us gamers.

Just recently, I received an email congratulating me as I have been selected as one of the ten bloggers that will be competing for the Animax’s Video Game Awards 2009 Battle of the Bloggers competition. My initial reaction is that I couldn’t believe: I already forgotten I signed up for the contest sometime in December. I continued reading the rest of the email and got excited right away.

As a lazy blogger joining some random contests, I thought that this contest is a really big one. I immediately followed the instructions on the email: registered an account for Animax Asia website and Animax communities then read the lengthy contest rules which contains most of the things I need to know about the contest.

Being selected as a finalist for a blogging contest like the Video Game Awards’ Battle of The Bloggers is really a great honor for me as a blogger. To the other 9 finalist bloggers, it’s an honor to be competing with you guys, I wish all of us the best of luck and may the best blogger win.
