How To Write Your First Blog Post
filed in Blogging on Apr.21, 2009
If you happened to be reading a book, and starting to check out the first few pages, you will notice that there is always some sort of introduction to what the book may contain or some information about the author and on the reasons why he wrote the book. It is the same as a blog and the introduction comes in the form of the first blog post.
So when starting out, what should bloggers really include on their first blog post? There are no specific rules on what to include and write on your first blog post but to make people interested on you and your blog, there are these elements or guidelines on what to write for your first blog post that you can follow. You can notice that some other bloggers on other blogs are also following and including these on their first blog posts. Here are the elements that you should want to write on your first blog post:
Who You Are – Your introduction of who you are to your readers should be the first thing that can be found at your first blog post. These should contain your name or even a pen name, your interests, experiences and more information about yourself. You can also add a photo of yourself. Telling readers who you are is like introducing yourself to new acquaintances and trying to win their trust and that should be what this part really do.
Why Are You Blogging – Next is to state your reasons for blogging. You should want your readers to understand why are you blogging and what keeps you on continue doing it. Tell them your real honest reasons for blogging like because you just do it as a hobby or to share some knowledge and experience about things you want to blog about or to make money online. You should let your readers feel your passion on blogging.
What Will You Be Blogging About – These part should contain what content will you be sharing to your readers. You should tell them what to expect every time they visit your blog and make sure that you meet their expectations. This will also attract them to keep visiting your blog if they are interested on the topic you are blogging about, but keep in mind that you cannot market to everyone a specific topic because readers will more likely to look for blogs talking about their interests and specializing on their respective fields of topic.
How To Reach You And Leave Feedback – The last part of your first blog post should contain how they contact you and leave some feedback. Most likely that readers have questions out on the content of your blog posts and you should let them know a way on how to contact you directly, ask some questions or just leave some comments.
Remember that these are just guidelines on what to write on your first blog post and as I stated above, there are no specific set of rules on doing it. You can either make it or break it but always make sure that you properly introduce you and your blog to your readers to gain their trust and keep them coming back on your blog.
